Bicycle Music Festival Part 4: Show Me Some Skin!

There were girls in bikinis.

There were girls in togas.

And then they shared notes on sexy cycling!

Bicycle Music Festival Part 3: All The Single Ladies

The festival was chock full of freewheelin' golden girls.

The spirit of the ride gave me that feeling of days gone by. This woman reminds me of a kind of hippie-chick you might have seen in the Haight-Ashbury hey day.

The staff got to wear these cute flags indicating the role they played at the festival. I'm sure many of our readers will find this woman quite yummy.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind having the word "Manager" plastered across my ass.

But more than that, I was jealous of her fantastic grey and black arm warmers and floppy hat.

Riding with the band certainly brought smiles to many faces.

Bicycle Music Festival Part 2: All That Glitters Isn't Only Gold

There were also green socks.

Men in red.

Women in sky blue.

And more men in red (and green, with big wheels).

Bicycle Music Festival: Solid Gold!

Once Lilia, Adrienne, Meli and I finished our beer-drinking session at the Park Chalet, we finally caught up with the Bicycle Music Festival in the Park, just as they were organizing to take off. Phew! We almost missed the train. Here's the lovely Sonya Cotton of Shake Your Peace doing her Solid Gold thang.

Her fans couldn't control themselves.

Or they simply wanted to capture the memories.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the email about wearing gold, but this fine blond lady obviously did!

Gilded handlebars with a pink basket -- better than a pot of gold?

Qu'est-ce Que C'est "Multitask"?

Some take a water break. I am known to pull over to give my backside a rest. Some need a text break.

Valencia St. Encore

When do you ever cycle down Valencia and NOT see a pretty girl on a bike?

Another Mikael Moment

Stylishly waiting:

Stylishly cycling:

I always think of our pal Mikael when I see a human becoming human-powered transport.

baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and bicycles

Bicycling and baseball go hand-in-hand.

The free valet bike parking at our SF Giants ballpark makes me proud to be American. In fact, SF isn't the only ballpark in the country to offer this perk for biker baseball fans.

It's great to watch all the two-wheeling jersey-clad fans safely leaving their bikes in a secure setting while they get to kick back and watch some good game.

You can even pump your tires... or tire.

It wasn't until I took this pic that I realized that the SFBC's colors are the same as our Giants' (coincidence?).

And this year, we get to root for a super-star pitcher!

Even non-Giants baseball fans can appreciate the beauty of this downtown gem.

Happy 4th! Bicycling and Baseball are All-American!

meli takes a spin

Fabulous local blogger celeb Meli Burgueño put down the Frenchie momentarily to take a spin on Adrienne's Bat this sunny afternoon when we all met up at the Park Chalet for some cervezitas. Great to see Meli in full support of our Gigantes in black and orange - even on a non-game day.

And get a load of those leggings!

panhandle shadows

Long days of summer create long shadows.
Another pair of man flats. Or are they espadrilles?

Shadows crisscross the crosswalk as these cyclists take off!

Golden Surfer

Sometimes riding looks a little different.

20th and Capp

Years ago, this little intersection was a hub for a rather unsightly form of entertainment. The city renovated the adjacent park and put a community garden there to increase the community's feeling of connection to public space. However, gentrification is probably more the reason for the spot's shift.

Capp is a great little street to ride your bike down. It isn't an official bike route, but it's very close to Mission, quiet, straight, flat and the pavement is pretty good. Perfect San Francisco Victorians line a good bit of it. I saw a couple Voguers here recently, but what I like most about those photos is how much they look like San Francisco as opposed to any other city.

Here, she rides with green skirt flowing in the wind, boots and shoulder bag below a row of Victorians at various levels of "improved."

This guy rode in a blue dress shirt and slacks, baseball cap and backpack.

Of course, I wish he wouldn't ride on the sidewalk.

SF Cycle Moment: Stuck Behind Muni

Any SF cyclist who's ridden down Market Street has run into the back of a Muni bus just like in this pic before. I often commute up and down Market Street, and I'm always dodging potholes, taxis, pedestrians who don't look both ways, and of course, the infamous Muni. Often I run into cycle-friends sharing the sharrows, and though we attempt to be social and chit-chat, it's nearly impossible with all the obstacles and potential dangers that come into our bike path. I firmly subscribe to the vision that Market Street ought to be closed off to all automobile traffic, restricted to only public transportation, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and designated bike lanes added as soon as municipally possible.

of moms and dads

An SF supermum in her classic tie-dye leggings shows her girls how it's done!

And I must admit that I had my eye on this hot daddi-o with that cute smile, cap and Chucks...

until I saw him consoling/encouraging/congratulating his daughter who was apparently learning to ride on two wheels in the Panhandle.

Way to go Moms and Dads!

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

I saw this flier on the wall next to the bike racks at Rainbow Grocery. Do you think it's an intentional pun that the man is inviting the woman to the Revolution? Is it that Revolution or this Revolution? If it's the former, is SF (and the world) ready for it? Check it out tonight at 6 pm at Justin Herman Plaza!
